Tension & Trauma Release Exercises (TRE®) is a simple yet innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma. Created by Dr. David Berceli, PhD, TRE® safely activates a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system. When this muscular shaking/vibrating mechanism is activated in a safe and controlled environment, the body is encouraged to return back to a state of balance.
TRE® is designed to be a self-help tool that, once learned, can be used independently as needed throughout one’s life, thereby continuously supporting and promoting personal health and wellness.
Whether you are a parent/spouse who would like more patience with your family, a victim of violence or accident, a soldier suffering with PTSD, an athlete, or simply a person who wants to become more resilient and just feel better about life, you can benefit from TRE®.
The muscle tremors caused by the TRE® exercise process is a natural, internal, neuro-physiological response of the body to reduce its own stress and restore well-being. TRE® is a somatic process which, when done properly through a Certified TRE® Provider, can allow an individual to release built-up tension from the body without having to revisit the trauma itself (by speaking about it or recalling memories).
TRE® is designed to be a self-help tool that can be used as needed throughout one’s life, thereby arming an individual with a tool that can and will continuously promote and create personal health and wellness.
TRE® is an effective complementary practice when integrated with other treatment modalities by those in the healing professions, including the treatment of PTSD and anxiety disorder recovery and trauma.

Session 1
The basics of TRE® and self-regulation.
This class will introduce the TRE® process and the importance of self-regulation. As we proceed through the 7 stretches that activate the tremors, you will learn how to stop and start the shaking, start to learn how to listen to your body so that you can facilitate letting go safely, slowly, and learning to support yourself in the process.
Session 2
Mindfulness and TRE®.
As we work with our nervous system it is important to understand what is going on inside our body and mind. In this session, we will review the body's stress response system to help you become more mindful and present/grounded during your TRE® practice.
Less is more with TRE®.
TRE® is a nonverbal body practice, a tool that can heal the body and mind and works really well alongside other therapies and exercises. In this session, we will talk about how to add TRE® to other self-care practices that you may already be doing.
What to expect moving forward with TRE®.
Review of what we have learned so far. TRE® can release emotions ranging from mild upset to severe anxiety whether it is caused by work stress, excessive worry, conflict in relationships, physical stresses or traumas from accidents. TRE helps release tension with out the need to relive the traumatic event. Learning to tremor slowly and over time creates lasting changes in the body and mind.

"“I took a three-class series with Svava to learn TRE and it was extraordinary - both with the practice and working with her. Svava's first-hand experiences and gifts as a teacher made all the difference in understanding and accepting this practice, which is already having a positive impact on my well-being. I can't recommend more highly!”"
"“I recently signed up for Svava's Tension Release Exercise (TRE) class in hopes of finding an efficient way to handle work (and life) stress. The exercises are not difficult, there are adjustments available for most ability levels, and the outcome is a general sense of calm. I look forward to practicing TRE as a part of my new and improved regimen of self-care since being treated for cancer. As for Svava Brooks, I found her to be an intuitive and gentle instructor with extensive knowledge of TRE practice. If you have any interest in TRE, check it out! If nothing else, you will appreciate getting to know Svava. Thank you for reading and best to all in your health practices!”"
"“Svava's TRE course was so enlightening and could not have been offered at a better time. For the turmoil of the Shelter in Place order, Svava was able to transition our in person class to online. I was skeptical at first, but it was the most ideal way of continuing the course. Svava brought a resonance and comfort to us during this uncertain and confusing time. The TRE course expanded on an area I was missing in my other modalities I was using. The ability to let my body release tension as a seperate process from the mind work I have been doing added the next step in my healing and growth. Our class was as important to the learning by adding the community and support needed to be able to feel safe to explore the new technique. We all supported and cared for each other in an uplifting, gratituded filled way. Thanks so much for the class and community Svava!”"
