What is TRE®?

Tension & Trauma Release Exercises (TRE®) is a simple yet innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma. Created by Dr. David Berceli, PhD, TRE® safely activates a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system. When this muscular shaking/vibrating mechanism is activated in a safe and controlled environment, the body is encouraged to return back to a state of balance.

Why Does TRE® Work?

TRE® is designed to be a self-help tool that, once learned, can be used independently as needed throughout one’s life, thereby continuously supporting and promoting personal health and wellness.

Whether you are a parent/spouse who would like more patience with your family, a victim of violence or accident, a soldier suffering with PTSD, an athlete, or simply a person who wants to become more resilient and just feel better about life, you can benefit from TRE®.

The muscle tremors caused by the TRE® exercise process is a natural, internal, neuro-physiological response of the body to reduce its own stress and restore well-being. TRE® is a somatic process which, when done properly through a Certified TRE® Provider, can allow an individual to release built-up tension from the body without having to revisit the trauma itself (by speaking about it or recalling memories).

TRE® is designed to be a self-help tool that can be used as needed throughout one’s life, thereby arming an individual with a tool that can and will continuously promote and create personal health and wellness.

TRE® is an effective complementary practice when integrated with other treatment modalities by those in the healing professions, including the treatment of PTSD and anxiety disorder recovery and trauma.

Details

Dates: Mondays, April 12th, 19th, 26th, and May 3rd, 2021.

Time: Each class is 90 minutes long, from 5:00-6:30 PM (PST) or 8:00-9:30 PM (EST)

Location: Online, in the comfort of your home using Zoom.

Price: $147 for 4 x 90 min. sessions. ($167 after March 26th!)

Limited to 8 people. 

What is included: Handouts (pdf) information on the stress cycle in the body/nervous system, polyvagal theory, and ways that you can stimulate the healthy function of the vagus nerve.

For who:  These classes are for people that are new to TRE. If you have a history of trauma, PTSD, or chronic fatigue I recommend starting with a private session. Over Our 4 Sessions Together...

Session 1 

The basics of TRE® and self-regulation.

This class will introduce the TRE® process and the importance of self-regulation. As we proceed through the 7 stretches that activate the tremors, you will learn how to stop and start the shaking, start to learn how to listen to your body so that you can facilitate letting go safely, slowly, and learning to support yourself in the process.

Each session starts with a check-in, grounding, and sharing. Each session you will learn a new simple practice to track your state (how you are feeling in your body) and awareness to better support a deeper connection to your body.

Session 2 

Mindfulness and TRE®.

As we work with our nervous system it is important to understand what is going on inside our body and mind. In this session, we will review the body's stress response system to help you become more mindful and present/grounded during your TRE® practice. In this session after checking in and sharing we move through the steps to activate the tremors safely.

Session 3 

Less is more with TRE®.

TRE® is a nonverbal body practice, a tool that can heal the body and mind and works really well alongside other therapies and exercises. In this session, we will talk about how to add TRE® to other self-care practices that you may already be doing. After checking in and sharing we move into activating the tremors, practicing the pause and rest. Integration is an important part of the process.

Session 4 

What to expect moving forward with TRE®.

Review of what we have learned so far. TRE® can release emotions ranging from mild upset to severe anxiety whether it is caused by work stress, excessive worry, conflict in relationships, physical stresses or traumas from accidents. TRE helps release tension without the need to relive the traumatic event. Learning to tremor slowly and over time creates lasting changes in the body and mind. After checking and sharing we move into activating the tremors safely. These 4-week group sessions are just the beginning.  We wrap up our 4 weeks together with a guide on how to move forward with your TRE process to build resilience and create lasting change. 

Meet Your Practitioner

Svava Brooks is a Certified TRE® Provider and an Abuse Survivor Coach, a Reiki practitioner with over 20 years of experience of healing after trauma and has written two books on the topic.

Svava has practiced TRE®, meditation, and mindfulness for many years and it is an important part of her client support.
