An ebook for every season.

A community of self-care & healing.

Let's all learn to love ourselves together.

What Is This Community?

We have created an online community meant to focus on self-care and self-love, whether to heal from trauma or because you need help creating healthy habits to live your healthiest and happiest life!

When you join the online group, you receive 4 ebooks a year...

One for each season! Each comes with 30 days worth of healing, self-care, and healthier habits. The first ebook was the Summer Challenge which took place in July, the next one begins in October.

Each ebook is a month long challenge to learn new skills, create healthy habits, find happiness, and restore your emotional, physical, and mental health.

The community is a place to practice these new skills, to be supported by others, to create friendships and bonds, to be a part of a community focused on love, compassion, support, and healing.

This group is for anyone and everyone and could be used either on its own to start or further your healing or as a compliment to other healing practices you are already involved in, like therapy, support groups, etc.

This group was inspired by a weekend of reflection, where we spent some time discussing the healing journey and what the most helpful tools and exercises have been to truly feel like healing was taking place and it ultimately came down to the various actions of self-care. So we decided to put together a program that SHOWS people how to use different kinds of self-care to their benefit and integrate them into their lives as a real practice for real change to further encourage healing of the body, mind, and spirit.

The first ebook gave our group members exercises to practice Mindfulness, Affirmations and Gratitude, Moving Your Body, and Eating Healthy. Stay tuned for the next ebook themes!

How Do the Ebook Challenges Work?

For each week of the month-long challenge (one for each ebook), you will be given 7 days worth of exercises or challenges or guidance to work on the topic of the week. For an entire week, you will challenge yourself to complete each exercise or recipe or challenge so that by the end of the week, you will feel confident in your ability to keep going on your own, to add the area of healing to your life as a brand new healthy habit, self-care practice, and loving healing action.

This is important: This guide is meant to inspire you to create (not force) change in your life, which is a very important distinction to make.

If you miss a  day or skip one of the exercises, that's okay. Life happens. The point of having this guide is that you can always return to it the next day and try again. Even if you have a bad week, return to the exercises or challenges next week. Forgive yourself and try again. Because that is what healing is. Taking small steps forward with small changes and when you fall down, not beating yourself up about it. You just get up and try again. Because the journey itself is the healing, not the destination. This is a guide, not a rule book. This challenge is meant to inspire you, not shame youIt's meant to empower you with the tools that can and will enable your healing, because healing must take place in the mind, body, and spirit. Your healing is yours and yours alone and part of this challenge is learning how to be able to tune into your body to start to listen to what it needs to heal.

Why is Self-Care So Important?

Have you heard the saying, "You can't pour from an empty cup?" That's where the importance of self-care stems from, the fact that you simply only have so much to give and if you give none back to yourself, you are constantly trying to pour from a cup that is empty or close to empty, and never pouring (or giving) your best or most because you aren't refilling the source.

You are the source, your own source of life. And as you go about in the world, you give a lot of yourself; to your job, your spouse, your friends, your kids, your family, your daily must-do's. And because you give so much, you probably often feel spent or stretched thin. Because you aren't taking care of the source of all this energy and effort.

Self-care (also known as an aspect of self-love) is vital, though some people think it's selfish or inconsiderate. But that's probably because you've been taught by others that you can't take care of yourself first. This is not good advice.

You are your own responsibility in this life and you are ALWAYS your first priority. You can have other first or top priorities but your health and wellness and happiness are your responsibility and something that you can directly affect with your own effort. Self-care makes you more energetic, calm, patient, loving, focused, and effective in your day-to-day life. It gives you more confidence and boosts your self-esteem and positive thinking, which shows up in a huge way in every aspect of your life, especially in your relationship with others and your relationship with yourself. Self-care prevents burn-out and overwhelm, reduces the effects of stress, helps you to refocus your energy, and increases your happiness. Remember, self-care isn't a reward...it's a vital part of the healing process, a HUGE piece of the puzzle that allows complete mind-body-spirit healing to take place.

Self-care is also a statement that is loud and clear to all others that you love yourself and you are worth taking care of. You are setting this healthy boundary for yourself that in any kind of relationship with you, you need to put yourself first and so do they. This makes it clear to others around you that you KNOW how important and deserving you are and also sets an example for others (like your kids and spouse) to put their needs and health first also. We can always do our best to take better care of ourselves and love our bodies with healthy, loving habits.

With Svava Brooks...

Svava Brooks is an Abuse Survivor Coach, a Certified TRE® Provider, and a Reiki practitioner with over 20 years of experience of healing after trauma and has written two books on the topic.

A survivor herself, Svava has had to implement many self-care practices over the years to aid in her own healing, as she quickly discovered that only healing her emotions wasn't enough. To fully support her healing journey, Svava realized that self-care in the form of healthy habits were absolutely vital in successfully healing from trauma, because trauma is felt in the mind, body, and spirit.

Over the years, Svava figured out which self-care practices were most helpful to her own healing (like mindfulness, meditation, exercise, and healthy eating) and now wants to share these practices with other survivors or anyone in need of practicing self-love. She wants to help survivors succeed with this healing challenge and self-care community, to give survivors the tools they need to tune into their mind and body to be able to give it what it needs to feel healthy, strong, and loved, thus fostering the healing connection between mind and body.

And Elisa Brooks!

Elisa Brooks is Svava's daughter and has been involved in the world of trauma and healing almost her entire life because of her mother's healing and work.

Elisa has been involved in her own healing work for years, between active therapy, mindfulness and meditation practice, inner child work, self-compassion, and self-care.

After years of being an athlete and pushing her body almost every day, often to the point of exhaustion and overwhelm, Elisa had to learn new self-care practices around food and exercise that reflected love and gratitude. Elisa brings her own experience in having to heal from childhood trauma by taking responsibility for her health and wellness through self-care and self-love, healthy foods and gentle exercises, and learning to reach out for support.

Elisa is a Certified Facilitator of Darkness to Light's Stewards of Children Child Sexual Abuse Prevention program and works with Svava as a mother-daughter team working to help survivors find healing with the right tools and support.
